Intandem, IFA ink pact
Deal to cover around 20 pix a year
Intandem Films will collaborate with L.A.-based distribution and acquisition company IFA Distribution to sell IFA-financed pics worldwide, excluding North America.
Deal is expected to supply London-based Intandem with around 20 lower-budget thrillers, comedies and faith-based pics a year.
IFA, a joint venture between FUNimation Entertainment and American United Entertainment, will distribute pics in North America.
Pics include the $5 million 3D supernatural thriller "Glimmer," toplining Amy Smart and Shawn Roberts, due to be released in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Additional titles include "Stag," "A True Story," "Path of Souls" and "Construction."
Pics in development include "Misfits," toplining Guy Pearce, and thesp William Fichtner's helming debut, "Cold Brook." AUE chair Robert Rodriguez said, "We expect this to be a longterm arrangement that helps build a strong catalog of features that can be exploited on digital outlets as well as traditional media."
Intandem CEO Gary Smith said, "This deal secures Intandem a source of films to add significantly to our catalog. The company is keen to expand into faith-based films through this relationship, and we expect very strong growth in digital distribution in the future."
