Kate del Castillo Signs Up for a New Project (Latina)
La Reina del Sur star Kate del Castillo already has a new project to follow up her work on the hit Telemundo telenovela.
Del Castillo recently signed on to star in the new film K-11. The drama’s screenplay was co-written by Twilight actress Kristen Stewart’s mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, and is still in the beginning stages of production. K-11 has been gaining buzz since 2008 when rumors began to fly that Stewart and costar Nikki Reed were cast.
The Mexican actress, who starred in the highest grossing Spanish-language U.S. theatrical release in history, Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna), is playing a character named Mousey. K-11 should be hitting theaters in 2012 and is set to film this summer. On her Twitter account, Kate expressed her enthusiasm, posting: "Hola, preparing for my new movie K-11! What a challenge! I can't wait!"
Telemundo launched its first Emmy campaign this year with del Castillo as the front-runner for Best Actress in a Drama for her role as Teresa Mendoza on the hit telenovela, La Reina del Sur. Unfortunately she didn't a receive a nomination, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced them this morning.
