Craig Owens flexing his creative muscles in music, acting (PressDisplay)

Craig Owens has always been a busy guy, especially with bands such as Chiodos and Cinematic Sunrise, and now with the group Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (aka D.R.U.G.S.).

But this year he also found time to record a new solo song — “Bibles and Badges,” which was originally slated for D.R.U.G.S. — and put together four solo shows around the Midwest.

“It’s the same thing that happens every time; I miss playing the intimate shows,” explains Owens, 27, who was bor n in Davison, Mich., and now resides in Rochester. And I miss playing the older songs that meant a lot to me and that I think my fans and I really bonded and created a beautiful relationship over.

“So it’s a good chance for me to reunite that spark and share in playing it for them and having them sing along.”

Owens says he and “a few friends” will perform songs from throughout his career -- likely with a few “surprises” thrown in.” Meanwhile he’s gearing up for a bit of a rest before D.R.U.G.S. begins its first headlining tour in January (with a Feb. 25 show slated for the Crofoot in Pontiac), as well as a European swing. Also on the 2012 docket; his film debut in “K-11,” playing “a protege pop star” killed by his drugaddled producer, played by Goran Visnjic of “E.R.” fame.

“I’m just really, really excited to be a part of it and have it be such a massive role for my first movie,” Owens says. “I was just kind of thrown into it, no classes, I didn’t have to read for the part. It was a very interesting and fun time.

“I’m really starting to take the acting thing seriously, not because I need money or a job. It’s a definite passion for me. I would work these 12-hour days on the movie set and I’d still be smiling at the end of the night. So you can expect to see a lot more acting from me in the future.”

Craig Owens performs Monday at the Crofoot Ballroom,
1 S. Saginaw St., Pontiac
. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 day of show. Call 248-858-9333 or visit www.thecrofoot.com.
